A short biography of the Iraqi singer Mustafa Al-Ammar

Mustafa Al-Ammar, Iraqi born artist, actor and singer grew up in the Iraq city Kut.

He was born into a large family of international professional artists, directors, actors, musicians and writers, he was introduced to music and the arts from an early age.

As an opponent of the Saddam regime he left Iraq in 1992. From 1996 to 1999 Mustafa studied at the Academy of music in Jordan and Lebanon eastern classical music. This influence is reflected in the majority of his songs today, which combine traditional Arab folklore with modern western music.

In addition to writing most of the material, Mustafa also performs and directs most of his videos.

 

2009 January/February: Interviews in Arabic TV-Shows about the event in Milan

March: Recording of a new song in Arix Studio in in Milan/Italy, the song is entitled "Changed" and is produced in Italian and Arabic language together with the Italian singer Susanna Dubaz The song has been composed and produced of Mustafa Al-Ammar and will be broadcasted in summer 2009.

March/April: Reportage in the Iraqi TV "Albaghdadia" entitled "Long way with Mustafa Al- Ammar". An one hour reportage on Mustafa's music and life in Germany

April: Mustafa Al-Ammar was selected of the Iraqi Ministry of Tourism to perform a classical music project together with the Museum of Baghdad. The Museum has been closed 2003, because of the war and has been opened since this year again. Mustafa shall show the world with this project that the Iraq has a great history and is on spot again.

April: Beginning of the work on a new music-video "Against Drugs", Recording is planned in summer 2009.

The show was broadcasted in over 100 international TV-Channels, in the stadium 45.000 visitors watched the match. After the event Mustafa became an Iraqi mega star in the Arabic countries. He represents his country in the world

2006 Work for the International Symphony Project with the Baroque Orchestra (Concerto Köln) for the "1001 nights and days" project, with composers from the USA, Europe, Iraq, together with the Iraqi "Maqam" singer Farida Mohammad Ali (this project will start in 2009-2010 as a worldwide concert tour with 35 musicians of the orchestra "Concerto Köln" and the "Iraq Group Maqam"). Mustafa Al-Ammar and Mr. Jean-Michel Forest implemented the idea and managed the project.

July: Conference with the orchestra "Concerto Köln" in Paris and an interview with the important Arab newspaper "Al Alsharq AWST.

November: Concert for the aid organization "Hilfe ohne Grenzen" in Mannheim/Germany.
2005 - 2006 Tour through California (December - February)
2005 In the beginning of the year the new CD "The last love" was released. From the title song "The Last Love" a music video was produced with Arabic text and modern music.
The performance of the CD took place in March at the ITB Berlin.July: Tour through Switzerland, Belgium and France
October: Interview with Radio Portugal concerning music in Aviro/Portugal
November-December: International Music Festival in Florida, USA - Mustafa Al-Ammar was selected as the first Arab artist, for this festival, as one of the best singers who sings for peace in this world. 
2004 Tour through Germany, interviews with German and Norwegian television channels Participation in the "Art Festival" in northern Germany
Start of the production of the album "The Last Love" with 5 songs in Germany. The music is very soulful, very rhythmic and tells of love, longing and grief.
The CD is a composition of Iraqi folk mixed with modern western music.

Production of a music clip about the war in Iraq entitled "Sing in happy times".
The clip was produced in Berlin and showed in many international TV channels, including "mbc tv" (Dubai).
The music video was presented on the Berlin Film Festival under the name "Freedom 2 Speech"
